How can I heat a swimming pool without a heater?
I have a 10k gallon above ground pool that is only in the sun about half the day. I would like tips on how to heat it quicker without a gas heater. I am considering getting a solar heater, but I'm not sure how good they are. Any advice on solar heaters? Are the $150 solar heaters any good?
I have a solar cover. Should I put it on now while the pool is cold to heat it up quicker or should I wait for the pool to heat up and then put it on to keep the heat in?

Solar heaters work great, if you get the expensive ones. We have 4 panels on our roof that get sun exposure in the later part of the day. It makes the water coming out of the jets very warm and doesn't cost a thing (except the initial installation). I don't know about one for $150.
Put the solar cover on when the sun goes down to keep the heat in. The covers are only used to keep the heat in, they don't really heat up the water in the pool if you don't have a solar heater. It will actually block the sun and hinder your efforts. If you get a solar heater, then you can leave the cover on all the time when you aren't using it to keep the water warm. It is heated through the jets, not from the sun so it won't matter if it blocks the sun.
