Do Energy Power Savers work?
I have seen some energy power savers on:

Do these actually work and make the savings they say (if so why don't more poeple have them)? Do they cause any problems with any electrical items in the house?
Also, which one is the best and why?
The earth for energy mentioned in one of the answers to your questions is a scam to avoid.
Power factor correction devices for residential use are also scams. I have an extensive article on this scam here http://www.nlcpr.com/Deceptions1.php which is too long to paste in here. Power factor correction is legitimate in certain industrial settings but totally useless for the homeowner.
I just looked at the Intelliworks product and see they claim "50% savings on your electricity bill". This is clearly a lie.
The one at amazon claims a 35% saving and suggests you only need one. This product is also a scam.
If you wanted to save a fraction of a penny a year on a large motor (say your washing machine), you would have to put a substantial (larger than these) power factor unit right at the motor and the the whole assembly would have to be switched on and off together.
The real savings are for commercial business that are penalized (with higher power electric billing rates) if their power factor is low. By installing large power factor correction units they get the factor closer to 1 and get a discount. Home owners are not penalized in this way.
