How do you clean up gasoline leaked into a swimming pool?
While mowing the lawn I fell into the pool and pulled the lawn mower in loosing about a half gallon of gas.
Don't feel bad about it. I once had a customer drive his lawn tractor in. Same issue.
The fix, if it's just gas and not oil is just to do nothing. Gasoline floats on water and it will quickly evaporate by itself.
If you've got some oil to deal with, toss a kitchen sponge in the skimmer above the basket. Once a day clean the sponge with some dish soap and thoroughly rinse it. Keep it up until no more oil is visible on the sponge.
There are a few specialty chemicals you could buy, they're rather expensive though, that will break down the oil, but you still need to do the sponge bit to get it out, so I'd just stick with letting the sponge do the work.
