When buying a new above ground pool, would you recommend a traditional chlorine system or a salt water system?
After swimming in a friend's inground saltwater pool, we love it. We bought an above ground traditional chlorine pool (from Target) in the past and it is time to replace it. I have found an above ground saltwater pool in Walmart. However, it is much more expensive. Does the cost balance out since you do not have to purchase chlorine?
i own a pool company and with a saltwater pool you have to have what is called an ionizer.this converts saltwater into chlorine so that pool does not turn green .however the ionizer will break down and are quite pricey to replace.on the other hand a chlorine pool you dont have this therefore no replacement cost an ionizer will last about 5 years also with a salt pool it is recommended that it has to stay at 1500 (ppm) parts per million which means you have to dump 50 pounds of salt in it about every 2 weeks.just something to think about
