has anyone ever used a garage door opener motor for a wind turbine generator?
You could use that type motor to generate electricity, but you would have to keep the speed constant, or the frequency would vary. This could cause equipment powered with it to function incorrectly.
How are you planning to mechanically rotate the motor? Would you attach blades to it?
The wind generators are pretty sophisticated, they have a flywheel and transmission gears.

Something else, the garage door opener motor is design for temporary use, not continuous.
